I just finished draining my 240 gal saltwater tank and I am going to convert it to a freshwater native tank. I was debating if leaving the sand in that had been used for the salty tank would be beneficial in providing nutrients to freshwater plants? I will also probably add dirt and gravel as well, just not sure if I should remove the sand first...? I have no plans to use the sand for anything else so it will just get dumped in the field if I don't use it...

Will it benefit plant growth, or do damage to the plants due to the high salt concentration and the fact that it is already loaded with detritus? Should I just clean it out and go with the dirt so I don't end up with another tank full of algae?
