Is the dark green plant an aquatic plant?

Nope, sorry. It's a Spathiphyllum, AKA the Peace Lily. It'll do great in a pot on your windowsill though.

they are sold at some lfs to stick out of betta vases. it is a lily and will live sitting in water but not submerged
