Can I keep a pair of Apistos (and nothing else) in a well planted 7.5 gallon nano tank?

Hi anfield,

Probably not the typical Apisto like A. agassizii or A. cacatuoides because they need more space, especially if they decide to pair up and breeding behavior starts; but possibly Apistogramma minima (if you can find the species) they only grow to about 2" long.

I wouldn't. Even in a 55, my pair of A. macmasteri chase each other around when not actively rearing fry. It's a constant game of tag in a planted tank 4 feet long.

Got mine in 75 gallon and the male took over the whole tank. I would look at a minimum of 20 gallon for them.

Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis & Nannacara taenia are both tiny species, & are sometimes available on Aquabid. I once had a pair of Laetacara curviceps spawn in a 5.5 (they were being quarantined), but I wouldn't recommend it.
