I not sure if I'm using the test kit correctly. What green you suppose to get it to. My is like a light faint green. I add 2 drops of the GH solution to the 5ml test tube. I add 2-3 same hint of light green after that I try add more it stays the same. So, for example if I take 2-3 reading what will be my GH and ppm. Very confusing sorry :(

Once it turns light green that's your reading it should look sort of like watered down mtn dew

Ya ok just make make sure because I add more drops and it pretty much stayed very very light green lols. So I'm guessing my GH is 2 since 2 drops turned it green?
Hey we have the same amounts of post :)
Yeah 2 drops is 2. However it's not the most accurate test consider it a give or take reading

Also look down from the top through the vial over a white background, it makes it easier to see that it is green.
The first drop that changes it is usually the one you count.

I have done some tests where the first drop that makes any change (drop #4) really is not much. Not yet green, just 'not the same yellow'. Then next drop (#5) makes an obvious change to green.
I would call that a high 4 degrees, maybe between 4.5-5 degrees.

To convert degrees to ppm multiply by 17.9.
First drop I get no change second drop I get green already and yes I put it behind a white background
I will do another test tonight thanks all. :)
I found the API GH test kit was very life limited. I once tried 2 of them, one brand new, without either one working well. After trying a couple of other brands I found one that worked. Apparently the GH test chemicals aren't all that stable.

O.O Hoppy, do you have a recommendation on a more reliable brand?
The drop #2 that made the distinct change is what you count. 2 degrees.

I also had the GH test fail earlier than any others.
It has also failed on an old package of test strips that I picked up for free. The other tabs change color, and agree with the reagent/test tube tests.
