I would look into learning how to build one or just buy an aquarium ready stand. I would not trust that thing to hold a glass of water let alone a fish tank. What I have done in the past (and I still do) is re-purpose furniture like, chests, dressers, cabinets etc. Look at any of the tanks in my signature and you will see all 3 are on furniture that once never saw an aquarium near it.

That stand did not say anything about how much weight it will hold. You might look on Ikea's website. They usually have weight limits on their products.

Please remember that water weighs 8 pounds per gallon. Imagine what several gallons of water would do to a floor. IMO it is better to err on the side of safety and buy a stand that is well built and very strong. I also secure the stand to the wall to keep a child from pulling the stand over.

lab_man.. my daughter is a sr. in high school so no worries about her pulling it over...

8x3 is not all that heavy.. my BIGEST tank is 6 gallons...

if it was ANY bigger this would not even be a thought.
