Anyone try these to hang their fixtures?

I looked around for a few hours about different options to suspend my light fixtures. I looked into DIY pulleys and even my specific model light fixtures suspension kit.

I ultimately decided on two pairs of Apollo Ratchets, for 2 separate light fixtures. 6$ each set.

"Apollo Horticulture Ratchet" which you can search for in Amazon or Ebay. 150lb weight limit with a fairly simple raise and lowering mechanism.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

They seem pretty straightforward. I wish I had a way to easily raise and lower my T5HO. I just use braided steel wiring 1/16" and a couple of ferrules and end stops from Lowes over a bent conduit.

Looks like those would work, just make sure your rope is good, like paracord or similar. Is the body made of metal?
My fixture is so light weight I'm able to use those plant pulleys only rated for 20 lbs. each. I have 1 on each end. They work good. Only downside is the catch/stops are about every 4" so not infinitely adjustable. Not a big problem since mine is attached to the ceiling with "s" hooks and chain. If needed I can fine tune it using those.

Mine aren't the prettiest things either. The pulley part is rather large & unsightly but because it makes moving the light so much easier I live with it.

Edit: those pictured look nicer than mine.

I believe the exterior housing is plastic while the internal mechanism is metal.

I got my ratchets in the mail today. Although I was skeptical as to their usefulness, I can happily say that they are excellent. They are well made and sturdy. They make a slight click sound as the lights are raised and the cord is a very strong material. The height can be set in tiny increments if need be.

I'm sure it works like a charm, but to me it looks like the tank's in traction. :icon_lol:
