Anybody in DC/VA/MD local having problems with USPS?

This has been my 3rd package lost this year. In the confirmation number it says that it was delivered 3 days ago but nothing was delivered by the USPS guy. Everytime i call they say will put an investigation and call back within 24hours but none called and when I called back they says it has been delivered and cant help me further. Grrrrrrr... lost my Assasins again! I guess assasins are not for me that's all i can think off. :angryfire

I haven't had any packages lost, but I do find that their online tracking system is not very helpful. It doesn't tend to show any information until after the package has already been delivered (at which point I don't really care when it was first picked up, and when and where it stopped on the way to me).
Does one of your highschool freinds who holds a grudge against you work for the post office and does he trash the occasional package? :icon_roll

Poor Justin... (OS)

I would guess it would have to be the actual mail deliverer. wouldn't it?

Yeah.... sad...

I think in the DC area the PO uses a 3rd party for some of their delivery. If that is the case, you get even lower standards than the PO offers.

Now my new shipping problem is that my handwriting is garbage. finally gave up on that!

If I were you, I would offer to pay for ups or fedex if the shipper will do it. or ask for hold at post office service, so you can go get it and they can't claim to deliver....
I know that the confirmation number is not a good way to use as a tracking number but the bad part is when you call their CS number thats where they will base their answer on what it says in it or what time it was delivered.

Nikki- I know your mom works in USPS is there a special number to call? pm me the info.

Thanks!

btw, the total package count was 41 packages trashed. He still hasn't been formally charged. My heart wants me to make a big public fuss out of it, my inner cool is telling me to move on and not turn him into the unabomber...

41:eek: wow that's a BIG LOSS Justin! You should do it! so he can learn and don't do it again to you or someone else. I don't feel as bad now after hearing your story.

I shipped out about 6 plant orders in the last 2-3 weeks and lost 1. Everything else arrived in perfect condition according to the buyers.

bsmith, posted a good article about shippers/shipping: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/swap-n-shop/122445-not-item-sale-but-i-figured.html. Some interesting results needless to say.
I'm in Alexandria and recently had a package lost AT the post office. It was a return of some shoes, and it came with a pre printed return label with a bar code on it. All I had to do was drop it off at the Post Office. Because I didn't purchase anything I got no receipt. Well the store never got the return and says that they are notified when the P.O. scans the package in, and mine was never scanned in. So I'm out a few hundred dollars and someone in the P.O. is probably walking around in some very nice shoes and boots :(
Back in the day FEDEX lost a Treo 650 that ended up costing me 575 bucks. It was the same thing where I used a preprinted return label for phone insurance. I cried a little. A lot.
By the way Brian, I didn't realize you were the OP! Hi!!!!

I do not live in the same area as being talked about there. I live in California and regularly ship packages to Texas. They have been taking two extra days to get there each time.

Interestingly, he just sent me a package and it came a day early...
No problem on an out going mail just incoming is what I am having problems with. That's way I have to add signature confirmation just to be safe.

I don't do signature confirmation because the person I ship to isn't always home when the mail is delivered but I always do delivery confirmation. That way I know when it gets there.
fortunately, USPS didn't lose my package, but they were pretty darn close. ordered my item in october 1st and received it on december 11. their explanation, misplaced package from multiple post offices. what was it? my girlfriend's birthday gift... her birthday was in november...
