Any way to keep dwarf hair grass shorter?

I just got some dwarf hairgrass in the mail and it's a bit taller than I expected. it's 6" or more in some places. I thought this stuff was supposed to stay around 3? Is there anything I can do to keep it short? Right now, I planted it emersed to get a good mass going. I have fairly high light (4x55W PC).

There are a couple different dwarf hairgrasses that grow to different heights. If memory serves me right there is Eleocharis parvula (sp?) and Eleocharis acicularis (sp?). I have both in my nano right now and the parvulus grows to about 6" and the acicularis stays about 3. Hope that helps.
i think it's the other way around :)
parvula is shorter.

this is interesting. I thought I had parvula, but with the exception of
one blade in a hundred, it stays under 3", so I guess I have acicularis.
shame my short hair grass is such a hair algae magnet :icon_roll
i got clado at the base of my hairgrass, but it's minimum. i always remove mine at sight. combing the hairgrass helps as i think dirty hairgrass = algae.
Ah, ok, I probably have the other variety.
Ikuzo is correct:

I believe parvula is the one that stays small (2-3in) and acicularis is the one that is larger (4-6 in).
The hair grass in my high tech 10 gal gets 6"+ tall. When it started getting overgrown I transplanted some of it into my low tech 29 (probably 8 months ago) and it has not gotten more than 3 inches tall. It's spreading, just not growing tall. Something to think about!
I have some giant hairgrass 14 inches tall!
