I really want to see how tropical fish habitats looks like. I do like a lot of planted tanks that are in display but they totally look uuhhmmm fake (in a nice way). In the wild do these central/south american fishes habitat look nice? My brother once told me he saw a national geographic show on neons and they live in a pool inside a cave. No plants at all and very dark. Now I'm sure it looks somewhat nice where the water is cystal clear. Also about discus, how are their habitats like? They need perfect water in a tank, does the water there very good too? Also where they live must not have much current right?

Basically is there videos/documentry/books on these fishes and where can I find them. I'm looking to do more of a natural planted tank next time around so that is why I'm asking.
