Hi there! This is my first official post here in the forum, though I’ve been lurking for months now.

I had a 6 gallon tank as a kid that I kept a variety of freshwater tropical fish in conditions that I’ve grown to learn were pretty sad. 😞

In January of this year I finally got a 2.5 gallon betta tank set up with a beautiful blue Crowntail male and a tiger nerite (well, he’s not the first snail in Charlie’s tank... but that’s a story for another time.) It only has silk plants and a fake rock, but that got me into looking at aquascapes out there and I desperately wanted to do a community tank.

So now I’m working on my current set up:

Aqueon 20 gallon Long
Aqueon QuietFlow filter
Mylivell 100W heater
Finnex 24/7 LED Light (I forget details for this one)
Ohko stone and driftwood
Eco complete
Topfin aquarium gravel (very fine, almost like sand)

My question right now is where is the best place to get plants? I’m in Greensboro, but I’ve heard ordering them online can also be an excellent option. Any suggestions?

I’m in no rush to get it stocked, but I really want to get this thing planted and filled!

is a very good website, tells you what supplements are needed to grow plants, how much co2 is needed, the amount of light needed, the care level, the water conditions that the plant should be in, and has an overview of the plants. all the plants from here are cheap too and if you spend over $99 on aquatic life you get free shipping! if you're getting a planted tank i recommend this website. hope i helped!

I'd take a look at the For Sale forum on here. You'd be hard pressed to find higher quality plants at better prices anywhere else.

So I went ahead and added substrate with some Ohko stones and focal point driftwood piece.

Long story short - I ordered the filter from amazon and didn’t set it up right away. Bad news is it isn’t working. Good news is I have a new project. 😛

Either way I’m super excited and I just had to post about it before I’d have any photos ready.

I feel that a journal shall begin soon!

Thank you @duckfish (is that how you tag people? Is that a thing here? Such a noob. 😂) I’ll keep them and my LFS aa top priorities until the for sale thread becomes available to me.

I can see the WTB/RAOK thread, but nothing there is what I’m looking for at the moment. I can only assume (and hope) that’s not the “For Sale” forum, given the circumstances.
