Any *quiet* nano filters you can recomend?

Hi! :)

Im probably being picky, but Im in need of a practically silent filter. Any suggestions?
The tank is a newly set 12" cube that will be housed in a small, shared dorm room (most likely right next to my bed). I bought both an Azoo palm filter and an Aquaclear 20 to test out but they are both rather noisy. During the day, its ignorable - At night, they kept me up like crazy!

Any ideas are appreciated

Interesting... I always considered the aquaclear quiet. Eheim corner filter from the aquastyle kit is dead quiet.
AquaClear 30 is much more quiet than the AC20.

If you can go with a canister, Eheim 2213 is silent.
my azoo mignon is quieter than my next smallest filter i have, the aquaclear 30.
I considered an Eheim, but will the flow be okay for such a small tank? I have one on my 30 gallon and had to dial it down.
The Eheim Liberty is extremely quiet. The only noise you can hear is the splash of the water returning to the tank, but that's solved by taking a piece of filter floss and placing it in the path of the returning water.
My Zoomed 501 canister is dead silent. I was shocked how quiet it is for a $50 Zoomed filter, but if you hate filter noise as much as I do, you should check it out.
I have an eheim 2213 on my 12" cube that is set up in my dorm room and it's pretty much dead silent unless an air bubble gets chopped by the impeller. The flow is perfect for a 12" cube.

If you find the flow too strong you can put a sponge over the intake tube.
A 2213 is perfectly suited for an 8 gallon tank cube. I had one on my Ebi running full blast. Waaaay too small for a 30gal, though. Not even sure a 2217 would be large enough for that.

I agree with this.... if you switch out the spray bar with something else it will help reduce out going flow.

I dont know too much about filters, just whats on the box. The box said it was suitable for 66 gal tanks so I assumed it would be fine for my 30. I guess I was wrong

Should I just use my old 2213 on the shrimp tank and buy a stronger filter for my 30 gal?
Your going to laugh at this but...... the most silent small HOB i have tested so far is the cheap Aquatech 5-15 from walmart. It costs like $10 and its been a workhorse for me over 2 years and still as silent as when i 1st got it. I have 3 running on seperate tanks in my bedroom and i honestly dont hear a thing.
True, the only thing I hear from my Aquaclears is sometimes water splashing. If the water level is high enough, not even that...
I use the finnex px-360 and once the trapped air passes through the filter after maintenance (about an hour) it is silent until I open it again. I use lily pipes under the surface, so the ripples never break so no splashing noise either.
Just bought a Marina Slim s15 and it is beyond quiet. I used to have an Aquaclear and it was noisy and splashed a lot! The Marina comes in s10, s15 and s20. I got mine from Amazon for around $13 shipped free.

Thanks everyone!
Ive realized I cant use a canister. I took a look at my dorm room today and there isn't any wiggle space between the furniture to place a canister on the floor.

Im going to order 3 of the HOB's mentioned and keep the quietest one.
Thanks again!
