I want to get 12-14 of the Corydoras pygmaeus and would prefer to get them locally if possible, than risk DOAs from shipping. Does anyone know where I can buy them from? thanks!!

Msjinzd might sell them, she packs everything well so I doubt DOAs. Just look at her reviews if you are still worried.
thanks for the suggestion- but I already looked up couple places with good reviews, but when it comes to fish, they are mixed, even with overnight shipping..... I would really want to explore local options first..!!
the seem to be a fish not many people carry we got ours from bobs tropical fish and they survived mostly 7 out of 10

were they shipped by overnight? or USPS priority? 7/10 isn't bad....
Are you set on pygmaeus? I'm not sure if Aqua View gets them in, but I know they carry C. habrosus...

Right by Porter Square. Open around 11am on Monday & close at 8pm - call ahead to see what's in stock, but I've definitely seen Corydoras pygmaeus there. Scarlet badis, little 1.5" flounders & assorted shrimps.

FYI.... BFLF gets new livestock on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

I am going to call them tomorrow first thing. if they have carried them before, I am sure they can order for me. I am so glad I didn't order online yet- I was coming pretty close! Thank you so much for the info
Uncle Ned's in Millis has carried both pygmaeus and habrosus off and on.

I was always a little wary of ordering fish on-line. But I ordered 6 chili rasboras and a couple of otos from Msjinzd last year. Shipping was just a couple of days and not that expensive if I remember correctly. All arrived alive and healthy and all are still going strong today, haven't lost any. I would order again from Rachel.
Zoo Creatures in Plaistow NH has them regularly. I have also seen them at the Petco in Plaistow as well.
it was priority, so 3 days the key is picking the right time of year when it doesnt get too hot/cold
They're out of stock at Segrest--I can keep an eye on it for you if you are in no rush to get them. Ordering from someone on the forums with good feedback / success rate is worth trying IMO. They should have guarantees to refund losses.

I think that unless the shipper is within 1 day UPS ground delivery, you're likely to be looking at 2+ days for shipping or paying for next day air, which is usually a minimum of $40. A lot of fish / inverts can survive 2-3 days in a bag if properly bagged.

Hobby shippers, and some more frugal retail operations, usually save some more on shipping by cutting Styrofoam board to fit a box, versus buying one-piece molded Styrofoam shippers from a place like ULine--so make sure to order in good weather.
