Yes, and in your own town at that LOL.

Tropic Pets in your town is one of the only non-chain LFS I have seen in Maine.

There is also Blackshark in Lewiston. The guy there has a TON of fish. But something just seems shady about the place.

In Auburn, there is a convenient store and salt water supplier in one LOL. Really odd to find, but the guy has a nice setup.

That is all I have ever found.

i know this is an old thread but i must say the guy who owns blackshark in lewiston is a dick. i have been going to him for years and he is always loud and rude and talks trash about other places. he is so full of himself. and even tho this tanks and fish are in great condition his advice of fish that will be ok together are bad, and he overstocks big time. most fish breeds he doesnt even get right, even tho he has the biggest selection ive seen i dont even waste my time going there. his personality isnt worth any fish to me. plus petlife will order fish for you if they dont have them so the options can be bigger.

All of the above is true. He does have a big selection of fish though, and they tend to be healthy with clean tanks. He is also a bit of a blowhard. I haven't been up in a year and a half, and the last time he swore he was going to close and sell the building by the next summer if business didn't pick up...so call ahead and make sure Black Shark still exists if you're planning on visiting.

Fish Only stores in Southern Maine

Yes there is finally a fish only place in southern Maine actually in Gorham, ME called Easy Aquariums located just over the Westbrook / Gorham line in the Gorham Industrial Park, 207-272-5212. The owner is Jason Olmstead and he recently hooked me up with a used 125 gallon tank I am making into a large planted freshwater tank. I also purchased EcoCompleter planted substrate there as well as a huge branch for my large tank. He right now has mostly marine tanks and supplies but he is working on building up the business to include freshwater too. He is willing to help with anything he can and is a great listener - you have to stop by and see him. Good luck, John R. :fish:

Try New England Aquarium Services on Pearl St. in Biddeford. The first floor is all saltwater but upstairs they have freshwater tanks! I also enjoy Easy Aquarium in Gorham, the owner Jason is awesome and they're working hard to get their freshwater room going!!!
