I currently have a 50 gallon tank (36x18x19) and looking at getting the Finnex Ray2 Aquarium LED fixture. Does insect screen help reduce the PAR rating?

It depends on how fine the insect screen is, but yes it will block some light. If you want lower light what about the finnex fugeray?
