Another 125 Gallon Lighting Reccomendation

I've read a bunch threads and have decided on the Finnex Ray2.

I'm thinking of doing just low-med maybe high light plants.

Are there any other lighting recommendations?

Also please if anyone has 3 24" Finnex Ray2 on their 125 tank please please take a picture of how they look on top of the tank. I want to know if they will fit on my tank or not.

Thank you!

Why did you decide on the RayII's?
At about 20 inches it will give me about 30ish par which is low - low medium.

Why not go for one that fits.. (assuming a 72" tank)

Beamswork DA 6500K LED Aquarium Light 0.50W Freshwater Plant

72" DA 180 176x - 8000 lumen 144x 6500K, 32x Actinic
72" DA 180: 72.50” x 5.25” x 1.00”
@ 20" you would have higher PAR than the Finnex.

Wow! Great price! I can buy 2 beamworks 72" for the price of 3 24" ray2.

Any long term experience with the beamworks? Will the ray2 be worth the initial cost in the long run?

Ha, Jeffkrol is the Beamswork master.

both lights are simple beasts.. Basically a circuit board w/ diodes and a switching power supply..
LED diodes are relatively robust components. Heat will degrade them and the phosphors inside.

See no major problems w/ either the Finnex nor the Beamsworks in terms of overheating the diodes..
I'd "maybe" side w/ the finnex over a Beamswork if it wasn't the .5w diodes.. i.e 3W "Bridgelux" type.. but that would be on the side of caution.

One would "hope" Finnex uses better diodes.. but that is not guaranteed.
As to power supplies.. both, in my mind, use a disposable commodity.. Prone to failure but easy for many to replace..

After being here a few years, do you see a lot of "Beamworks suck" talk??? Or finnex for that matter..

but, in other terms, don't plan on handing them down to your children......... ;)
