Angels pairing up

882 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Indian fern
I have 3 angels. A silver, black, and white. The silver and black seem to be pairing up. What do I do with the white one once a pair is officially established? The silver angel is shooing everyone in the tank away from one particular spot except for the black angel (no eggs yet)

It's a 75 gallon, and I bought them around quarter-dollar size 2 months ago. They are about 6" long now. Should the white angel be fine in the tank? Or once the pair is officially established, should I find the white angel a new home?

You need to let the third wheel go. He will only get in the way and be beat up.
add or subtract to multiply

subtract - find it a new home if you want the fry as the odd fish is now a target and without the distraction the parents keep up with fry better.

add - add more angelfish to share the joy and spread the aggression losing the spawn for sure.
That happens mine too. My lone angel was paired up. The new pair stayed in the amazon swords and valls. Even my platys can get near there. Seems like it guards that place. Is it soon gonna mate and spawn

Use this info, Mike is a Angle Guru!! Also check out Angels Plus for breeding supplies and information, good luck.
My pair were quite aggressive to the '3rd wheel' and she had to go hide in a corner. Remove the unwanted Angel.
I would always remove the third party. One word of caution, though. Make sure you are in fact getting the correct fish. There are several forum tidbits about people who remove the third party to find they now have two females who lay and tend eggs but the eggs never hatch. Hummm? Wonder why?
Also, once they paired up, make sure they got a place on their own. Mine keeps on shooing away other fishes getting near its territory. ;))
