Angelfish issues

I have 3 angelfish (I know, I was planning to get more but my lfs had a hard time getting more healthy ones in)

Anyways, they are black, silver, and white, and have reached maturity. For the last several weeks the silver angel has been making the white angel stay on the opposite side of the tank (75g) and the black angel seems content just hanging around it's friends. I did a major rescape yesterday and now the white angel is fighting back at the silver angel, and the silver angel has become more aggressive towards the white angel. The black angel hangs out with both the silver and white angel an equal amount of time as if it can't decide who to partner up with.

When the silver angel began showing aggression the plan was for my brother to put the white angel in his tank, but now that there is a lot of aggression and one undecided angel, what do I do?

I don't want them to kill each other while the black angel decides, but at the same time I don't want to choose for the black angel. I would rather them pair up appropriately.

Oh, and sorry this is under plants. I thought I posted it under fish. It was a long day at work lol
Sounds like you have some fishuses! haahaha, ok but seriously the best plan is to take out the aggressive one for a few days and then reintroduce him to the others by leaving him in a large net breeder so the others are aware of him then release him... this should help
Hi calmia,
Generally speaking the old catch and reintroduce method isn't a good choice with angels... Almost always leads to serious escalations, and can cause bickering to become slaughtering. I'm not an expert but we are angel lovers. What are your temps and filtration methods? Are other fish in the tank? How old are these angels and how long have they been in this tank? When you say you want them to pair does this mean you definetely intend to breed them? Can you describe the mechanics of the attacks and how they stop? Angels fight for many reasons.

Temp stays at 78. I have a sump with an output of 650gph. I have 5 ottos, 11 platys, 3 scarlet badis, and 1 male betta in the tank. The angels don't seem to care about the other fish.

The angels are about 5 months old, and I have had them for 3 months. They have grown extremely quickly. Originally I wanted a schooling group of angels but my lfs has been able to get in more healthy angels until recently, leaving these 3 to grow like crazy. The silver angel has been showing signs of breeding though. My brother used to breed them.

When there is a argument, generally one angel comes to the other angels side of the tank, or the black angel and it's selected choice at the time get too close to the other angel. They charge towards each other and it looks like they are biting at each other, but there aren't any signs of biting on the fish themselves. They will ram at each other 2-3 times and go their separate ways.
They are now almost mature and it's pairing / posturing going on I would bet a fair amount of funds on it.

mine lip lock in a tug of war and bluff charge until paired.
Happens to the best of them. You just got to wait it out and see what angels pair up and move the one that didn't get a mate. Thats what I did. My angels still have scares from fighting when they were just becoming adults too. But I never had a death from over fighting.
Mine did the same thing until 2 pairs were formed. I then sold one of the pairs and removed a loaner, leaving one pair to themselves. Angels are pretty, but can get super feisty when they want to pair up!
You can try adding a few more to reduce the pecking order from one on one to one on many and establish a few pairs and an alpha male or you could have an onslaught. Just my opinion but I'm not sure.
Never knew angles fought, might need to be careful when getting mine for my new tank, ill probably do all males or all females to try and prevent any serious fighting
Mine started beating each other up around 4 months of age. Never made any sense to me because they're all brothers and sisters. Lol. I did have to put one make in another tank and now they just pick on each other no fighting just chasing.

If getting the fish old enough to sex them get all males.
Even without a male in the tank the females will false spawn and still squabble over things.
So any tips on how long it takes for a pair to form? Also, how can I verify that the pair has formed?
