Today I found a clump of Angel babies.

I never realize the Angel parents are so caring, until I witness them bunching the babies together.

Because some of the fries keep dropping from the plants, then they carry with their mouths and stick them together

Wait till they eat them all...sorry..
Had at least 15 attempts at doing this "naturally". Usually no problem till they are about a week or 2 old...

Jeffkrol Thanks for your advice. My LFS had advised me less live food to prevent the parents from going into mating cycle.

I'd assume the opposite would be the better approach, but may be wrong. Angelfish are pigs, I'd think less feeding would make them eat their fry.

I think he meant, to make smaller percentage of their diet live food, not to give them less quantity? I've seen advice in several places that if angelfish live at lower temperatures or have lower quality diet, they are not going to breed (but then are more likely to succumb to illness). However not in my experience- when I was a teen I had a pair of angelfish. I was not the best fishkeeper back then- they were in too-small of a tank and most of their diet was flake. And still they were breeding (ate the eggs).

@darklord that's cool to see the fry wiggling in the plants in your video. I get excited when I see my fish lay eggs, have never yet got any fry (barbs). Not that I really expect to!

My last batch of eggs were all fungus. This bunch I didn't really see where were they laid.

I would not change the feeding pattern as I want all my fish as healthy as possible. And healthy adult fish do breed! If they are not breeding, something is not quite right and THAT is when I change things.
For fry survival, I look at it in this way. It is natural for many fish to eat small fish so when we put them in confined spaces, where the fry can't move away far enough, the natural thing is for an adult fish to eat them. It is one true way to get the adult female back into breeding shape. It takes lots of energy and that energy comes from food, whether it is their own fry or other fish is not part of the question.
So if I want to save and raise fry, I have to go one of two ways. More space, more cover for better odds of hiding or move the fry to a safe place. Some want to define nature in odd ways but small fish dying is the natural thing that happens all the time.
Odd how we want to say it is wrong to let a fish die in our tanks but then go out to a breakfast of bacon and eggs?
