I have not lost any neons to my angels, but my angels are not full size yet. Even so, cardinals or rummies or any of the other larger tetras would be fine with full size angels regardless.

From what I have read from others experiences, it is pretty rare to have angels that have grown up eating store bought food to end up eating tetras.

thanks thats good to hear...actually i was just reading your 125 thread and about to post a Q's there ..lol
i have 3 large altums and a group of 30 rummynose and cardinals. my altums leave them alone. however i think my altums ate 2 of my celestial danios and one of my threadfins rainbows. just a thought although i have no proof. cuz i cant find there dead bodies anywhere and only the altums can eat them. but the rummynose and my sae just ate pretty much all my bolivian rams fry haha.

discus and angels can be kept together lots of people have done it. only time i see it having a problem is when they breed and can be territorial but if you have a large enough tank it shouldnt be a problem
I've kept neon tetras and cardinals with angels off and on for years. On occasion I've seen adult standards give chase but healthy schools usually out run the veils I like to keep. Shrimp on the other hand even the a heavily planted tank are snacks ;) Neon's go on sale here 2/.88 often so if a couple go missing it's easy on the wallet to put another dozen in the quarantine 10g then restock the group. :proud:

2 for .88? dart thats a good deal. the cheaper i found around here is 1$ a pop ( cash ,no tax)on cardinal XL. thats the price from the whole seller that i know . big chain petsmarts and LFS is more than that.
I just added a small angel to my 38g with a dozen black neon tetras. So far all fish are getting along well. The shrimp on the other hand... I can't believe that one small angel has eaten over 50 shrimp in three weeks but I honestly can't find a single shrimp. No regrets however, that angel is smart and fun to watch and is way more interesting than the 50 shrimp.
I currently have 2 neons (the only 2 that survived - the things just die...) with my school of 9 angels. Got the angels very small so they have grown together. Angels are now silver dollar size and have begun fighting among themselves, but leave the neons alone. Haven´t seen them trying to catch them ever.

If you get a large angel he will probably try to eat them... get small ones and let them grow together.

I have to get another group of neons, but havent´ had time to set up my quarantine tank
