what is i gently pour in a little bottle of seltzer water into the tank everyday.
It has CO2 already dissolved in it.

If you do that you will almost certainly invite all of the species of algae known to mankind to take up housekeeping in your tank! (OK, I exaggerated a little.) Adding a bottle of seltzer water would add a spike of CO2, which would then quickly drop back down to the normal 1-5 ppm. That fluctuation would encourage algae to start growing.

Squeeze a lemon in a glass, add a little vodka, then pour that bottle of seltzer water in the glass. Either enjoy the drink or serve it to your dad when he gets home from work. That would help the aquarium more.
