Hi,
One of my aquarium plants, which I think is an Amazon Sword (Echinodorus Red Rose), shot 3 very long stems (about 80 cm longeach) with a normal size leaf on the end. The plant has 18 normal leaves with the stems of about 12cm. What are these very long leaves?
Regards,
Art

Could you post a pic of the new stems? They might be flower stalks?

I took out the stems from the aquarium to show how long they are (the longest one is about 100cm long). They are from one plant, and appeared about a month ago.

Sometime a sword will shoot out long leaves to break teh surface; they prefer to grow with the leaves out of water (more efficient); you can cut them to discourage such activity.
