Amanos eating on wood?

574 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  bulrush
My amanos have been clustered on one large stump for about a week now. They definitely seem to be eating something off of/out of the wood, but I can't figure out what. There's no visible algae on the stump... Any ideas?

I've had something similar on some vine wood. After a few weeks it looked like Mopani where the Amanos had cleaned it. Never seemed to do any harm.
Maybe its some unrotten or rotting wood? I have some skin left on my wood so the oto and cherries appreciate is so maybe that's it? There's always something in wood.
Microorganisms love to grow on wood so the amanos are probably eating those.
