Ok so last week I bot a quartet or Amanos to clean up some hair algae.
yesterday all the way across the house from the tank they went into in my bathroom I see lieing on the ground all dried up one of the amanos I bought. Wha?! Are Amanos known for being escape artists? I'm a tad irritated since he cost 4 bucks. But hey what can you do. I just thought it weird that it made it out of the tank and then a good 20+ feet to the room I found him.

The first couple times I bought Amano's I had the exact same experience. I found them between 10 and 20 feet from the tank, if I recall.

I eventually found that I had some acid leeching driftwood in my tank, so the next time I tried them, they seemed to stick around (at least until my tank went south :icon_twis ).

So, perhaps Amano's are just a bit more sensitive and 'proactive'?!?
Brian.

I have an open top tank, and for the 5 days it has been in there, it has failed to escape. Meaning it has tried many times, but it gave up.

My shrimp in my 10 gallon walk in and out of my filter, and so do my cherry shrimp, but thats it. There is a heater that they can actually get out of, but they don't.

When they are new, they will walk or jump out as they are stressed by trying to adjust to new water. Once they settle in and the water is good they don’t try to leave from my experience. I keep them in open top tanks one with wood going above the water line and they have stayed there. CRS and cherry will also jump if they don’t like the water.
