I currently use aged tap water in my Amano/RCS tank and it's pretty hard:

PH 8.2
KH 8-10deg
GH 10-12deg

I know that a lot of the hardness is in the form of lime.

The Amano are berried all the time.... they seem to love my water conditions. I'm wondering about trying to make a breeding project out of the situation, and actually push the water further into the hardness/brackish area to try to get conditions to a place where the babies can mature.

Do you guys think I could/should do it?

If so, I have one looming question: Do you think that I should shoot for a certain fixed set of water parameters, or do I need to vary the parameters as the babies go from the egg stage to being adults?

(Has anyone successfully bred amanos in captivity before?)
