All Those Root—What About Them?

466 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  medicineman
I have java ferns and anubiases growing on bog-wood. All have roots hanging down from the edge of the bog-wood.

What should I do about them?

Should I trim them? Should I allow them to enter the substrata? Should I grow moss on the roots? What????????????????????????????

I trimmed the roots of my Anubias nana petite and it really improved their appearance (they didn't have all these roots sticking out). I had heard somewhere to do that. They did fine with it.
I always let them be.
Eventually the roots will get a hold to whatever is on and create beardy wild look (as in a huge ficus benjamina tree), I'd say it is pleasant to look at.
