So I have algae growing on my HOB filter, it's a slick green/red color (possibly BGA?).

Should I just get a new filter all together? Should I bleach it? I just thoroughly scrubbed it.

A little bit of scrubbing and rinsing with tank water will do. Bleaching will kill all the beneficial bacteria, making the tank recycle again.

No light right into the filter, it has a top too.
