You guys haven't failed me yet. Trying to figure out what kind of algae this is lurking in my shrimp tank! I'm not even too sure if it's algae - could it be a plant? (Notice the little green fuzzy circles in the center of the picture).

A bit hard to tell with a photo taken from the top. Pull out a chunk and if it feels coarse and stays in a clump it is clado.
It definitely feels coarse and stays in a clump (it even grows in clumps everywhere!) but it looks like it's made up of little strands...sounds like it might be clado then.

OMG IT'S CLADO!!! AHHHHHH RUN!!!

:hihi: sorry, personal feelings about clado. Anyhow, you got CO2 and good lights in the tank? Clado really effects you most in that it grows just like a plant would, so by the time you're able to use a technique to kill clado, you're killing your plants as well. They're tough.

However, they mostly only affect you if you're growing foreground plants like hc, ug and oh...let's not forget dwarf hairgrass :frown:...and plants that clump together like moss, riccia.

They also like attaching themselves to driftwood and grow from the substrate up, hence why they affect dwarf hairgrass a lot. If only they glowed or something...oh well.

They're not bad for shrimps or anything and they can be nice if you know how to control them.
