Ive been looking on the different sites and cant figure out what it is. Ive been doing weekly water changes and it comes back in a few days. It carpets the substrate and plant leaves. May be dirty filters. Im cleaning all that saturday. Any ideas?

64 veiws and no one can help me out? Im still fighting this.
It looks like cyanobacteria. Check if your nitrates are low. Sometimes that can cause it. Also make sure you have good flow in your tank.

I used to get it in one of my tanks if I got lazy with fertilizing and water changes.

One time I was able to get rid of it by doing frequent water changes, increasing adding more nitrogen and physically removing as much of it as i can. And also using hydrogen peroxide.

The second time I got it I used Boyd chemiclean. Since then I never saw it again.

Thanks for the input. Ive been doing weekly water changes, cleaned all the filters and pipes and it still came back. I need to pick up a test kit to check everything.

Bump: And I think youre right. I googled some pics and it looks like thats what it is. Thanks.
