Long story short my tank has been taken over recently by this type of algae seemingly everywhere in the tank. I have a Finnex 24/7 light which has been in place for months so I'm not sure why the recent change, but it's frustrating and something I want to get under control ASAP.

I looked into some articles but couldn't 100% ID it myself. Quick characteristics: It comes off plants/walls very easily but repopulates in what feels like hours. it has a blueish/green tint in the water but appears a darker green as seen on my finger. Very slimy.

Thanks for reading. Please let me know if you have any idea what this is or need more information.

Blue green algae. AKA Cyanobacteria. You can spot treat with hydrogen peroxide. I had this in my 90 gallon but not to that extent. For now i would try to take out as much as possible manually and spot treat bad area's with hydrogen peroxide. Do large water change at least 50% once a week or even better 2 times a week and hope it never comes back. Usually BGA will not come back in a healthy mature tank.

good luck.
