well, i have a carpet of hair and BBA its actually quite.... terrible looking. but i have tried normal procedures of getting rid of algae and it just is not working, i reduced the photoperiod to 7 hours, and checked my 2 bottles of DIY CO2 (which im guessing are the primary cause) and everything seems fine, my dosing has been inconsistent so that is also a contribution. The curious thing is that the algae is not affecting plants very much, just the gravel, that is what is confusing me. Is it a buildup of too much of something in the gravel? Thanks

ps. its a 29 gal with 5 14 watt CFC over it

I would start spot treating all of that with Excel to kill it. Once you kill it, you can see if it comes back with the smaller amount of light.
