Hello folks,
For those of you that use alder cones in your shrimp tank:
Most of them have "scales"(?) that swell up when waterlogged and so the cone pretty much closes up and becomes a solid chunk. The shrimp don't seem to care for those. A small fraction of the cones have scales that don't swell up all the way, leaving gaps in between. The shrimp like those and pick at them often. Is there a way for me to prepare all my cones so that they don't swell closed? Like gently bake in the oven or something?
