I have several Glow-light tetra which I consider to be one of the best community fish. They have vibrant color, swim and explore a lot and are so peaceful you can keep them with shrimp however I purchased 12 that turned out to be albino glow-light tetra and these are COMPLETELY different then the normal version of the fish.
They will not swim around or move within a few inches of their current location. They will not swim to the surface, they will not swim to the other side of the tank, they will not swim to the front or back of the tank.
They will literally stay in one spot since I got them. The only way they eat is if a flake happens to fall in front of their face.
I decided to do an experiment to see if perhaps there was something going on with the aquarium water parameters. I purchase some normal glow light tetra and added them to the same tank. The normal glow light tetra will swim all around, hunt down flakes(which I have on the left side of the aquarium) and act like normal glow-light tetra.
The albino version will stay on the right side of the aquarium dispite the fact that I have a fish feeder on a schedule dumping food in the left side of the aquarium and an air stone which create currents keeping most of the food on the left side. When I feed that aquarium, all the fish(except the albino glow light tetra) will go over to where the food is being dumped. Even the shrimp and the snails will move towards that side however these albino glow light tetra will not move an inch.
There are no predator fish in the tank, only peaceful fish that are compatibility with red cherry shrimp.
Still the Albino refuse to swim around and will stay in the exact same space that they have since I got them( over 4 months)
Is it possible the albino version of this fish are retarded or blind?
Their eyes are very red looking and they have like a blank look like they have no soul or are zombies. Very strange.
Does anyone ever keep albino glow-light tetra or notice any unusual behavior from the albino version of a fish vs the normal version of a fish? Perhaps I should take some picture or videos to demonstrate this later?
Please let me know
Thanks.
