Yeah the Vega is more design for a reef tank. Also, with the Kessil, it doesn't cover as much as they describe it, one is good for 24" cube. I've used one for my saltwater tank and it wasn't that great.
Have you tried the DIY app at build my led site? If no, playing around with it will answer your question. One important led that's missing is cyan from the aqua illumination lightI have been wondering the same thing. AI makes really good products, and I like the ability to have 24 hr lighting patterns and dimming/sunrise/sunset.

Any recommendations for the 20 LED config for a planted? 4 pucks, 5 LED's in each.
Focus on warm white, red and green?
So I have the possibility of getting some AI Vegas at a discounted price for my 17 gallon tank.
I currently have a dual t5 ho glo using 2 6500k bulbs. It is decent. Growing things alright. Never really get super reds showing. I also EI dose and pump in co2 using a rex reactor (drop checker with 4dkh solution is yellow)
So I have been wanting to up my lights. Something with control power wise and color wise. I wouldn't have it at full blast obviously. Something that would be easy to fix anything with lighting if something came up (like if too much light, just program less intensity, and even make sun rise sun set with increased intensities).
My other possibilities were:
The new Kessil 350 Tuna sun (a large version of the 150 amazon sun). Adjustable in intensity and spectrum with knobs, but not programmable. Not as nice looking imho
Finnex (haven't decided which model). Read great things, but I dont think its adjustable or programmable from the get go (correct me if I am wrong).
ATI t5 ho fixture that is adjustable in intensity and timers. Not spectrum unless you change out bulbs
Now I have read in the past that AI arnt the best for a planted tank, having too many blues and cool whites (which are 8000k) and washes out the colors, especially reds. This is regarding the older AI sol. However, while looking upon the AI Vega, it turns out that now they are providing customizable power pucks. These were the colors provided:
Deep Red
Green
Blue
Deep Blue
Violet
UV
Warm White
Neutral white
Cool White
Royal Blue
Now with these color possibilities, would it make it a good investment having all of these colors available to control their intensity individually? What puck combination would you suggest? Each puck can have 5 leds, and there can be a possibility of 4 pucks in a vega. Any other similar led fixtures that I should look at? It's a large investment, so I want to make sure I look at everything first. I just don't want to be at the end "damn, I wish I went with that light", whether for better color and strength. I want it to be the last and final light investment.
