Advice on small tank

Ok after the suggestion of me and my wife teaming up we need some advice. We have a ten gallon tank with one platy one guppy 4 neon tetras and a oto. Plants in the tank are 6 Italian Val's two amazon swords water sprite and java ferns. The Val's have some brown but are branching out and all other plants look good. The gravel is what I'm worried about its only maybe a half inch thick so any advice on this tank or suggestions?

You may need to add some root tabs into the gravel for the sword and val since they are heavy root feeders.
Ok do you think the gravel is deep enough
Just make sure your fish are well fed and that's your ferts right there. Do not add root tabs to a tank with only 1/2" of substrate.
Sorry for asking again but is 1/2 inch natural gravel enough or can I cap it with something like Eco complete I know it's suppose to be the other way but just want our plants to do good

I would say yeah buy a bag of it i probably would not use it all but probably half maybe a little bit more. Those vals would love to geta big root system on them they would do better. I run eco complete in my tank and i like it its a good sub. Just get a nice thick layer.
You might find out that you are going to have to remove that Sword.
Is there a reason why I would have to remove the sword?
