Definitely grab a GH and KH test kit as well. Very important with shrimp keeping. I have the exact same fluval ebi set up with my CRS in it. I only have driftwood in it. No CO2 and no stones. They are breeding like crazy. Can't remember the exact parameters but I can post them when I get home tonight if you want.

Thank you! If I had to take a guess I'd say ~30 My GH is at 6, KH 2, TDS is at 230 which is very high for these guys but with subtle water changes I'm bringing it down. Temp is at 23 degrees Celsius which is 73F could be a little lower as well. But I get a good survival rate with these parameters.

Ya seeding the substrate sounds like a good idea to me. I know that my shrimp substrate took a while to leech out all the ammonia so just be careful not to rush into things. I know just how hard it can be
