You can always turn it on if indeed it is good for invert - but it will have absolutely no benefits for your plants. These type of bulbs are use for reef tanks.

Actinic light in freshwater planted
I bought a light with both a 65 watt day light 12k light and also a actinic light.
My aqaurium is planted and i was wonderign if it would be beneficial to turn on the Actinic light along with my regular light.
Right now its off.

PS: this is for my shrimp tank. I am reading that its good for inverts.
