Does anyone know of any sources for acrylic? Other than homedepot and lowes. I want a damn 30 gallon long aquarium and figured I'm just gonna have to build it myself.

I know a place just across SJ in Philadelphia. HD and Lowes don't have plexi thick enough for tanks.

I know a guy who works with acrylic. He actually was married to my wedding florist and we asked them to build an acrylic chuppah (google it if you dont know what it is) any way he now made a business of it. I can ask him if he can sell you some sheets if he has what you need... let me know.

Gmoses, I'm definitely interested. I'm only looking to build a 40 gallon tank. I mean I'll even pay him to build it as long as it's reasonable. Btw, do you a pic of the chuppah? I'd love to see that...I've only seen the silk and quilted ones.

Let me know what size and thickness and i can see if he would sell it to you. He is not really interested right now in doing tanks as its too much work as its a lot more precise than what he does....

Critical Tanking is building me a 4 section tank for shrimps. The full dims are 36"x 18"x 12" with each having it's own filtration area and only costing me a $140 plus shipping.
Ryan Satterfield is his name and great guy to deal with. He has been sending me pix on his progress.
Critical tanking is all over facebook with the salt keepers and lfs businesses

If you want to do small DIY containers, they have a scrap bin that you can get pieces at deep discounts. You just have to shop a bit and quite frankly I am always nervous to visit the store cause I may come home with cheap pieces and never the time to do the project.

I'm getting it cut by them and I'll put it together. I've made a couple acrylic tanks before so I'm quite comfortable with he rest of the process. I just don't have the tools or the room for tools to cut acrylic.

Discus, now you have me worried! I already have to hide the acrylic sheets until the boss goes away for a week in June. Lol. She's going to leave seeing only three tanks and come home seeing a dozen spread out through the house lol

Yeah.. don't make the mistake I did. I purchased a few pieces from the scrap bin about 2 years ago. Well the plan was to make shrimp breeding tanks so left it in the garage. Came home one day and they were all gone. The boss had thrown them out! She said they were garbage. Just kept my mouth shut and learn to pick my battles.. :icon_smil

I ordered 1/2" thick pieces. Tank dimensions are 48x15x16. Price is 240 bucks. A little steep but their cuts are smooth and dimensions are exact. Plus I like diy'ing. I'm not able to put the tank together until first week of June though, when I get a chance I'll post pics of the edges.
