Angelfish are getting sucked into AC110 intakes. It is not often at all, has only happened a few times but today two got stuck and couldn’t get off while was at work and didn’t get home in time to get them off.

Do the Fluval PreFilters work or do I need to probably drop down to 2x AC70s until they’re bigger?

Only 1x AC110 in pic but there’s two on it now 🤙

In all honesty, the suction is not that forceful to trap a fish unless it’s unhealthy IMO. I’ve used that size filter with much smaller fish and never had that happen. Is it possible they were not doing well and their listlessness got them caught in the filter?

Regardless, you can actually place a piece of foam over the intake to act as a pre-filter.

The Fluval edge prefilters are working nicely. Seen the angels brush up against them just about and be fine.

Put them on after sitting there to observe when they’d get sucked into the intake to figure out the why better. So watched them for a couple hours while binge watched See and for whatever reason they would try to swim behind the filter intake once in a while and that’s when they’d get sucked in. 🤷‍♂️

With the prefilters, not an issue. 🤙
