Well actually in Europe there are only rimless tanks and we use normal canopy if we want (see in my journal). Or you can leave the top open, but really the tank will hold any canopy you want, doesn't matter if it's rimmed or rimless.

I use glass lids that are held up by clips. Clean look and prevents evap and jumpers
