Today, on impulse, I bought a pair of black ruby barbs, Puntius nigrofasciatus or something. I put them as dithers in my 70 gallon Tanganika Tropheus and Transciptus tank, but they look out of place. I am thinking of putting them in my 10 gallon to-be-planted cube tank. Do you think it would be enough?

By the way, these guys are true barbs. Displaying to each other and eating with gusto, although only 5 hours in the tank. I also see a smudge of good colors on the male.

Feedback welcome, especially by those who keep these beautiful fishes.

I've been thinking about getting some of them for my new 5.5

I was a big fan of the tiger barbs (esp. green) but I think they'd be too big for my small tank. Aren't the black rubies smaller? Think a pair would work in a nano? I've kept few fish as entertaining as barbs.

a 10 gallon for one pair? aww youre a good parent indeed, thats plenty o' room. we get these guys in often at work and they would be fine in a 10.
