A couple of shrimp articles I wrote

Hey all,

I wrote a couple of articles and posted them on my site.

Hopefully they will help.

One is about shipping small shrimp and why it is beneficial to receive them small. I wrote this one because everyone wants adults shipped to them and don't know that it is detrimental to send large shrimp.

The other article is a simple compatibility chart for those who wonder what shrimps can be with what. The question gets asked a lot so I figured I would just make a chart.

Hope these help. If you have any feedback please post :)

Hey!!!

I read your articles a few weeks ago and they helped me out a lot when I got my first shrimps (red cherry shrimps).

Very informative and helpful!

BTW, the shrimp rack journals are insane!!! It makes me want to start my own shrimp rack in the bathroom or walk-in closet--when I have my own place in a few years.
great! very informative

I think there is some error in your Shrimp Compatibility Chart.

red cherry can be in the same tank with others red cherry :icon_wink
so as blue pearl, yellow and showball
love the interbreeding chart :proud:
I hope you continue to expand
it as new types become popular.

Can you say OOOOPS!! hahahah.

fixed...
OK. A question came out in regards to another website having an almost identical chart posted a week or two ago, specifically the compatibility chart.

The website is theshrimpfarm.com and is owned by dwarfpufferfish, a member of this forum.

Anyhow, I have never actually seen that particular article/chart that he wrote and I do agree it is very similar. However, I brought this up because I want to assure everyone that I did not replicate/duplicate/plagiarize or read that article and decide to come up with my own. In all honesty I had never actually seen that article until today when it was brought up to me.

I have received so many emails, and have read so many questions on the forums about what shrimp can go with what, so I decided to do the chart. Also, I received a lot of questions regarding small shrimp vs large shrimp shipping so I also wrote that article at the same time.

I have absolutely no reason to steal ideas or replicate anyone else's website. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

Thanks,
Ryan

huh? I dont understand
Just Ignore him.

Can I make a recommendation?

Change the "can not" to "should not" Because they "can" go into the same tank because many of the same shrimp and color morphs require similar conditions, but shouldn't due to crossbreeding. Note that I didn't read the article just looked over the nice chart.

Also, if possible add a few lines at the bottom saying like Cherry breeds with X X X X X and Blue pearl breeds with XXXXX basically same as cherry, and so on and so forth. This should clear up any possible misinformation from a newb looking just at the chart, because I'll tell you plenty will.

Granted I looked quick at the chart but I am sure the article is well writtin as well. When I finish the Leaf Litter one here, You can add it as well with credit to me of course (and anyone else who may have helped me in a major way if that happens)

Good work,
-Andrew

Hey wood, what grades of CRS do you offer? I couldn't really find it on your site. Also do you ever do group packages of different shrimps at a discount?

The article is specifically about preventing shrimp hybridization. In order to prevent hybridization you can not put certain species together.

Thanks for the critique though =) I will be having an "article contest" on the planetinverts.com forum soon. The prizes will be very nice :) All prizes will be shrimp, and there will be expensive shrimp to win I promise like high grade SS CRS.

Alright I didn't read the article but looked at it after I posted and noticed it was along the lines I assumed. Personally I would still add more to the chart as said before because people, newbs usually will not read it all right and some people may need to read the information again. Some people are also much better visual learners than linguistic so seeing the chart and the explanation with that may work better even after reading the article.

The contest sounds fun! Let me know when it starts.

thanks for the article its great, newbie question but im planning to add in crystal red shrimps to my cherry reds and thats fine and all so that means i cant add any other shrimps if i wanted too right? like snowballs, tigers, bees, etc? so i would only have to stick with the cherries and the crystals?

Correct :)
Phanizzle,
There are a few other shrimp you could add to that aquarium. The ones you listed would not be a good idea, but you could add amano shrimp, American Glass Shrimp (ghost shrimp) or any of the other lower form shrimp.
