Care to share your 3.0 recipe? I run a pair on my 29g and like them besides what you mentioned about power outages. Always interested in how other people run their lights. Also how far from the tank do you keep your light? Mine are roughly 10" off the tank to get the coverage I wanted.

Tank looks nice! Will be following along.

This is what's currently set for this tank with it raised about 4" off the rim. When the lights came out Bentley Pascoe did a couple of YouTube videos on it and came up with something like this. My smaller tanks have less intensity and I may move this one up in intensity if necessary as my plants grow in.

For those of you at home keeping track (hahaha) I've gotten the CO2 in, added some rock and replanted. I didn't like where the crypts were and saw a scape I really liked with Valisnaria so I moved the crypts down to the bottom of the "hill" and planted it with some leopard val I had had on hand. Moved the lilies and lotus to far left end. I also moved the pipes. This is giving me good flow in the tank for a smaller canister filter. Stems are coming in today and next week - I don't have the best track record with stems so we'll see what survives longer term.

Coming today:
Ludwigia Pereunsis
Rotala Rondifolia OJ
Ludwigia Inclinata

Coming next week:
Nesaea Pedicellata Golden
Flame Moss
Selaginella Erythropus Ruby Red Peacock Moss

Those stems came... I don't know how long the box sat in the snow before my wife found them, but I didn't get a delivery notice for another 2 hours after that. The stems were still in good shape though. I planted them all by the bunch. The Nesaea will be here by Friday so during weekly maintenance I can do a better job at it. I also saw a cherry shrimp that must have rode in on the Val. Water testing has been good, I just wanted to wait a little bit longer to make absolutely sure I don't stress out my favorite fish for no reason. I think this is going to look fantastic in 3 months!

The last of the stems came in yesterday. The Nesaea didn't look very good out of the bag, but we'll see how it does. The Selaginella Erythropus Ruby Red is a terrestrial plant so that didn't go in the tank. I got a lot of flame moss and I'll tie that up on the front piece of wood when I do maintenance this weekend. I'm already seeing some growth of the plants over the week. It isn't a whole lot of course, but it is noticeable in the lilies and tripartita. The stems planted earlier seem to be doing good as well.

There are still tannins coming from the ghostwood. I'll just have to live with it until it goes away or I get bothered enough to order some purigen. Removing water from this beast wasn't working as well as it does for the smaller tanks to I stopped at the hardware store and got their last 19 feet of 3/4" vinyl tubing and ran that to the basement floor drain and a Sicce submersible pump I wasn't using for anything else. I also picked up 2 sheets of precut plexi. They work great as lids and I didn't have to do any cutting.

The moss is the last thing to go in before fish. I don't have any skill at tying moss to wood once it's already in the tank so I ended up gluing it in. I hate doing it this way, but it had to be done. I lost a little bit that pulled up, but not a whole lot. I'll let it all sit for a few days before moving the fish. I just want to make sure everything is as good as it will be before stressing the critters.

I know I said somewhere in an earlier post that I'm using frosted window film in the back. What I haven't said is I moved the old Philips Hue smart LED light strip from behind the 40g Ram tank to behind here. I have it auto set mostly to sunset colors, but I was bored and in the photo above set it to blue.

That moss is rad looking, too bad it's not meant for in the tank. Your flame moss should look sweet when it starts filling all that area in.

I'm interested to see how the acrylic lids hold up. From what I've read they start to bow after a month or two. If you have good luck I might try it myself. Enjoying all the updates!

Why do you say it's not meant for the tank? I've used it before I just didn't have luck moving it from some wood I had. I think it does look different.

Me too. I figured it was temporary, but I'll keep them on as long as I can and them move to something thicker and more sturdy. I have a glass company right down the street if I need them to cut me something custom.

Enjoying all the updates!
Thanks! As soon as the fish go in here I'll be rescaping and updating the other tanks too.

They are already warping so it's on to plan b - I'll do some finer measurements and call the glass shop down the street later this week.

I guess I wasn't clear on which moss I was talking about. Really neat looking moss.

Stinks about the lid. I had a good size scrap of 6mil acrylic in the office and cut it down for a lid about an hour ago haha. Fingers crossed it wasn't a total waste of time since yours didn't seem to hold up so well.

I've been so busy with stuff having to do with getting my mother's house sold and moving her to my sisters, I had to skip Sunday's water change. I've been meaning to get to it, but with everything my wife's car battery is dead and I've been trying to deal with that too. I noticed some diatom algae on the glass now and will have to make it a point to get that water change in. While driving around trying to charge up that car battery I picked up a pair of black angels for this tank too. The battery was dead again this morning, so other than the fish it was all for nothing.

Every weekend I have to pull out vallisneria from coming around the front. This weekend I also trimmed some of the moss and the Rotala Orange Juice. The Ludwifia Inclinata is also starting to get quite long, but I haven't trimmed that yet. I ordered more flame moss and bucephalandra super mini catherinae to add more to the driftwood. I have no clue how I'm going to put it on there... LOL!

I put the Oase skimmer in to clean up the floaters after trimming. I only needed to run it for a about 10 minutes.

Trimmed and moved the stem plants (the name escapes me right now). Pulled out yet more of the leopard val. That stuff grows so fast! Added more buce mini cathrinea and flame moss. I also added a couple of small pieces of rose moss to the bottom left of the wood.

I'm getting a little bit of green hair algae in spots under the light. I cleaned out bits of it here and there where I found it and spot treated some on the buce with peroxide. Then I raised the light up another 2 chain links to see it that will help. Also as expected around the tall rock formation in front and underneath the wood it's a dead flow spot. I'm either thinking of trying a small wave maker to move current lower in the tank OR trying to get in more small water changes, just to siphon out the mulm. I think I'll do the cheaper at first anyway.

The tank was cloudy yesterday and I couldn't figure out why. I'd done a normal water change on it the day before and thought maybe I'd overfed. I also noticed that white crap was back on the underside of the wood too. I did water tests and they looked normal, so I pulled the prefilter, cleaned the sponges and put it all back together with a packet of purigen. I put the purigen in, not for the cloudiness, but because I was tired of the slight tannins still leaking from the wood. I cleaned as much of the mulm up as I could, trimmed the Vallisneria and cleaned and trimmed the flame moss. Started everything back up and checked on it a few hours later. The cloudiness seemed to be less, but this morning it looked crystal clear. I'll water test again at lunch. With the small group of rummy nose and xrays it's continual motion in the tank.... It's so fun to watch.
