6g Eheim Aquastyle "Grassy Dunes"
The plan for this tank came about because of a trip to Petsmart. I bought some DHG for 50% off but had no idea what to do with it. I'd had some before and while it never died, it didn't really grow or spread either. I was looking for some 'scape ideas to use the DHG and came across this pic (from planetware.com):

I'm going to try to recreate this photo, or at least something resembling it. Here are the plans:
Equipment
Tank: Eheim Aquastyle 6 gallon kit
Filter: Stock
Light: Stock
CO2: Fluval Mini Pressurized CO2 w/ glass diffuser
Substrate: Carib-Sea Moonlight Sand (potentially mixed with some regular silica sand if I don't have enough)
Hardscape
None
Flora
Peacock moss
Rotala "green"
HM
DHG (E. parvula)
Fauna
Mr. Fish, a plakat betta
Basically the DHG will be in the front on either side of the "path." The rotala will be on the back left, the HM on the back right, and a moss wall made from plastic mesh and the peacock moss. Seems pretty straight forward. This will be my first experience with pressurized CO2 though, so that's a little daunting. I know it's a tiny kit and I probably could put together something better/cheaper/whatever, but honestly I was just more comfortable with buying this for my first go at it.
Planning on getting another pack or two of the DHG today or tomorrow and my sand should be coming in this week. Still have to get some HM. Not sure if I'll be able to find any locally or if I should just do a WTB on here. Probably end up doing the latter.
Will post pictures as soon as I have something to post. Hopefully later this week or early next week.

Stopped by Michaels this evening to pick up a few things, including the mesh for the moss wall. I got it put together tonight.

I had some suction cups left over from my zoo med 501 canisters, so I used those on the corners. I just had to snip out one little grid and then pulled the little circle on the back of the suction cup through the hole. Fits nice and snug and actually holds the two pieces of mesh together. I didn't even have to tie them together with fishing line like I had planned on doing. Right now I just have it in a ziplock (obviously) with some damp paper towels for safe keeping until the tank is up and running.

Got this planted only to run out of co2 after TWO DAYS! I guess I should have listened to what people were saying, but I had no idea what "fast" meant. I would have have been fine with a week or two, especially if the bike cartridges fit. Two days is a bit ridiculous. Luckily I still have the box and Amazon returns are simple, so this baby is going back. Sorry for the crappy pic, but here's what the tank looked like after planting:

Won't be looing like that for long though. If I were to get a nice co2 setup like the ones from GLA it would go on my second 12 long, not on this tank. Time to come up with a new plan using lower light and excel. The light is pretty darn bright IMO, at least compared to my low light tanks. I'll have to raise it up the whole way and do some floaters. Back to the drawing board.
