65 gallon

I'm thinking about setting up a 65 gallon tank. Now with being such a tall tank it has me wondering, how could I stock this tank? Since it has the dimensions essentially of a 40B, but has more volume than a 55.

I was thinking about maybe 2 different sized schools of Tetras. Like 18-20 Rummy Nose and something else.

Any ideas?

I would get a school of smaller tetra species. I personally would choose ember tetras, ruby tetras, Hyphessobrycon Bentosi, Hyphessobrycon Flammeus, etc.

You could try pencilfish. A school of Nannostomus Espei would be cool. I remember seeing around 200 of them in a display tank at my LFS, very pretty fish.
Why smaller species? If medium sized tetras like Rummies have room in a 40B, they would have plenty in a 65.
My 65g has 3 large angels, some rummy nose, 1 female krib and a pleco. My rummy count has dropped, but they are big rummy nose, age unknown, I rescued them from someone's tank tear down so I'm thinking it's just age. Never seen the angels bug them.

I think that tank is just perfect for angelfish. Add a large school of the tetra of your choice, or two smaller schools. Round it out with cories and ottos.

I'm thinking about going with 18 Rummy Nose Tetras and 18 Neon Tetras. Something of the like.

I'm still in the early stage of exploring this, but I'm thinking some Angelfish, a school of neons, some cories, plus ??? (Or minus ???)

Apistos, or some other dwarf cichlid, is your plus.

That's quite nice and big tank. I own half of this size and I think it's big enough. In my opinion, you should go for a smaller tetra species
I find smaller fish make the aquarium look larger. I had a school of rummynose and ember tetra and it was a joy to watch.

This sounds really good.

I think I'm starting to lean this way the more I look at it.

Much like Jenny, I think this makes sense and probably along the lines of what I'm thinking.
