65 gallon livestock list

588 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Waters
It has been years since I have had freshwater fish....I am totally unsure of what is a proper amount of fish in a planted tank. Does anybody see any issues with this list? My water is slightly acidic if that makes a huge difference.

4-5 Congo Tetras
10-15 smaller Tetras, possibly Rummy nose or Neons
1 or 2 small planted tank safe Plecos
1 Red tailed shark (I am aware of them possibly being aggressive and will remove if necessary...has always been my favorite tropical fish)
5 Otos
10-15 shrimp

Is this overstocked? Any issues with these fish eating plants?

Standard 65 gallon is waaaay too short for congo tetras, they need bigger group too. I would get only Rummy nose (but maybe 30 of them), 10 ottos, some shrimps and plecos. Otos need friends too.

Ok, that helps....no more Congos :frown2:
I have congos in 345 litre (90 gallon) tank, 120 cm (47 inch) long and it feels too small for them :-( They get pretty big, I'm saving money for bigger tank right now .
Ok...thanks for the advice. I will probably go with the Rummynose along with another small schooling Tetra or Barb.
