Sup Guys, I've been running Four 40 watts (48") T-12 Daylight Deluxe on my 55 Gallon tank and most plants been stable (slowly growing). Today I just got my CO2 regulators in, should have CO2 up n runnin by nxt week. :biggrin:

Questions are:

1) do I need to upgrade to T8 or T5 light bulbs, or can I grow good plants w/ just what lighting I have and CO2 (along w/ ferts).

2) how many bubble I'd need for my 55 gallon (general idea) to get to 25-30 ppm? was thinking bout 1 every 2 sec???

My tank setup is on my profile & signature w/ detail list of Fish & Plants. any advice is much appreciated... thnx ahead. :icon_lol:

A 55 gallon tank will take 2-3 bubbles per second, if not more, to maintain a good CO2 level in the tank. It depends on the diffuser/reactor you use, how much surface ripple you use, what filtration method you use, and how heavily planted the tank is. The power filter may cause considerable loss of CO2 if the "waterfall" splashes very much. You don't have to change lights though - CO2 helps the plant growth with any level of lighting.

Speaking of plants, looking at your tank you have two non-aquatic plants in it, that I can see. One is the white edged plant you just added, and the other is the Spathiphyllum.

cool man, lots of good advice... I dont have my CO2 drop check in yet, so was bit concerned using more then 1 bps... I'm going to be using plain glass bubble diffuser (from ebay). and for filtration I'm using stock HOB filter, along w/ XP3 but got the output water spreads along the top of da tank. so, it's not that much surface agitation. It's a good news that I dont have to change lighting. guess combination of lighting and CO2 determines how fast ur plants grow, right?

and bout those plants, those POS @ petco & petsmart sells them in a boundle as underwater plants (in tube). Think one w/ white edges are called "Ribbon Plants"... SOB... :angryfire I'll take those out. thnx again. :thumbsup:
