well, i am 48 hours into putting my tank together and i am curious to see how things are going and get some advice

Set Up:

29 gallon aquarium (standard light for now)
300w stealth heater
Rena XP2 cannister filter(with carbon, bio stars and Matrix bio support media)
3 to 5 inches of http://www.aquariumplants.com/product_p/ss-1.htm
and 1 fake piece of driftwood(got tired of getting outbid on ebay)
NO FISH OR PLANTS YET

Everything was WELL rinsed before it entered the tank

Water test results as of 48 hours:
GH 180ppm
KH 0ppm
PH 6.0
NO2 .5ppm
NO3 0ppm
Ammonia 1.0ppm

Water temp 78deg

Does this all sound normal?
I was a little worried at the GH reading, should i be?

thank you for the time in your responses

Eric

you have medium hard water...Water hardness can be manipulated in several ways. To make the water softer, the water can be filtered through peat moss or filtered through a reverse osmosis system. Ion exchange resins also can be used to lower the water hardness. Boiling water for a period of time can also reduce its hardness.

No fish? Then I would worry that the water has 1ppm of ammonia and .5 NO3 from the tap, unless that substrate is leeching it into water. Everything else looks good, maybe add some baking soda to get 1dKH to keep from getting wild ph swings. If it is coming from the substrate, I would stuff it full of fast growing stems, stock some fish and call it good. The swap and shop here often has a lot of plants for sale for cheap. The online plant dealers that are on the bottom of this site also have some very nice packages and hard to find plants.

GH 180ppm
KH 0ppm
PH 6.0
NO2 .5ppm
NO3 0ppm
Ammonia 1.0ppm
