I am looking to get the Archaea 36 watt fixture clip on fixture, but I really like the Current 40w daylight bulbs. I have checked and the bulb physically fits, but I am wondering if anyone has any input on using a 40w bulb on a (presumably) 36w ballast? Thanks.

Should be ok, but you will be under driving the bulb so it wont be as bright as it should be. there are plenty of daylight 36W PC bulbs available. try AHSupply.com and naturallighting.com thats where i get mine.

The ballast controls the wattage so you won't be getting any more light. It should work fine. The only time you will have issues is if the bulb is significantly more powerful than the ballast and can't light it.

Thanks, I didn't think under driving by 4 watts would be to big a deal.
