I currently have a 40B with bronze cories, rasboras, otos, and a single pearl gourami. I’d like to upgrade it to give the cories more running room. The space I have for the tank would hold a 60 inch tank perfectly but I can’t find a standard one. I could get a 75 gallon at the Petco sale but not sure that’s much of a bump in swimming space. But $120 for a 75 vs $$$ for a custom 60 inch seems way more budget friendly. Any ideas for a less expensive 60 inch, 100 gallon tank? Thanks!

Even second-hand frag (or shallow/shallow-ish) tanks would be more than $120. So that's a tough one, unless you find someone selling a used 120gal tank that's in good condition and at a great price. I've rarely seen one new for less than $500. The Seapora tank I covet at that length is about $600-$700 at retail on average on the low end and way more at some shops in my area.

75 dimensions give you another foot of swimming space over the 40B. I think that's a big upgrade at the substrate level for cories.

Right now, my only local option for a 60 inch is a Planet Aquarium tank for over $1000. I’d be happy with something half of that. I will keep looking as there’s no rush. And I may end up with the 75 after all. Thanks!

Yeah... I ended up going to a 75g on a Petco half off sale. The tank sat on the floor for 2 months and then it took me another 3 months to get it up and going. The 40g breeder is still up too, but I have plans now that work and other projects have been slowing down.

Update: So I’ve now found a store that can order a Planet Aquarium OceanVue 100 tank (60x18x19 or so) for roughly $600. They are out of stock and could be a couple of months before I could get it. Another store can get a Marineland 120 gallon (72x18x22) for about the same price. And they are in stock. I’ve emailed Seapora for a dealer in my region (north Louisiana) but haven’t heard back. I’d really prefer a 60” tank but have room for the 72”. Any input on those brands? I know Seapora is good. It’s just a matter of being able to find one.

Yeah a 75 over a 40 breeder is a huge bump in space if you ask me. That would be a great upgrade. If you wanted to go another route with more depth back to front, which would give more space as well, Seapora does have some interesting frag tanks. I believe they have a 60 gallon frag tank which is 48x24x12 I think. Pretty cool dimensions if you have the space. I think there's also an 80 gallon frag that they have which comes in at 48x24x16. They don't make them anymore, but I would have loved to have one of Seapora's old 45 gallon frag tanks which was 48x18x12.
