3g nano riparium

hey Guys I got a 3g Ecosystem type set up for my birthday this year, it comes with about 6 different planters in the top of the aquarium, it pumps the water up and feeds the roots of the plants making the plants a filter for the fish.
Ideally it can be used to grow herbs and spices and things like that, But I was also thinking of growing some aquatic species immersed so that I can get them nice and big to move into one of my tanks.
Has anyone tried something like this? What are some good species that will grow immersed at room temp.

I was thinking of putting a small group of white clouds in there, as an alternative to a betta. I did consider shrimp too but I doubt their waste products would be enough to really make an impact on the plants?

Just looking for some fun suggestions.
Thanks

The tank is too small for White Clouds IMO, I think a Betta or just shrimp would be the way to go.
You can basically use any plant you like provided your house doesn't get too cold. Although I would look to buy plants that are already emersed as the low humidity would be probably knock out submerged plants.
In the long run I'm not sure the waste from the fish can sustain the plants nutrient wise though.

Yeah I'm happy to dose the tank with fertilizer to grow the plants. its just an interesting little project.

If I put a mini heater in there I could probably get away with something else besides a betta, just looking for something out of the ordinary.
As for house plants and such, I don't really know much about them so I'm not too sure what would grow well with its roots constantly having access to water. I know some plants prefer to let their roots dry out and drain or they will rot.
Thanks for your input Opare, if its too small for white clouds I won't get some and make them miserable.

In a 3 gallon tank your fish choices are really limited to 6 types of fish tbh, and that's the genus Boraras- B. maculatus (The dwarf or pygmy rasbora), B. micros (the dwarf Thai rasbora, or three spotted dwarf minnow), B. urophthalmoides (the sparrow or exclamation rasbora), B. merah (the Phoenix rasbora), B. brigittae (the mosquito, chili or red rasbora), and B. naevus (the strawberry rasbora).

3 gallons is to small for any fish you listed, WMCM need at least 10 gallons (long) since they group in schools even larger than tetras. A betta needs at least a 5 gallon tank as well. 5 gallon tanks and under are usually used for shrimp only tanks, and small delicate aquascapes. you are really limiting what you can do here with that size of a tank.

I'm not used to nano tanks, if I was to get chili rasboras how many would you recommend?

I often see those galaxy rasboras in nano tanks at LFS'. smaller than the one I have anyway, usually with cherry shrimp.
